Annual Trip by 1960s Coach
Sunday 22nd May 2005

Main Venue: The Midland Railway Centre, Butterley, Derbyshire for their STEAM GALA. A range of locos will be in use and on display. Unlimited train rides. Guided tour of the Matthew Kirtley Museum (collection of locos and rolling stock). Demonstration signalbox. Swanwick model railway. The Golden Valley Light Railway (narrow gauge) will be operating (small extra charge) and hopefully the Butterley Park Miniature Railway (3½" & 5" gauge) will also be open. Also in Butterley Country Park are The Western Upcast Colliery winding house and headstocks, Cromford Canal basin and tunnel entrance, Brittain Pit Farm and St. Saviours Church. Food is available from ‘Johnson's Buffet’.
Plus visit to Rudyard Lake Railway (10½" gauge on the way back, includes a 3 mile return trip (along the side of the attractive lake) hauled by one of their popular steam locos.
