A welcome return by David, starts our new season with a look at the photographic record of the railway renaissance.

The History of New Street Station - Richard Foster
An illustrated talk, by a leading authority on New Street and all things L.N.W.R., takes us from the Station's beginnings to the present day.

G.W.S. Saint Locomotive Project - Richard Croucher and friends
Our friends from Didcot return with a look at the retro conversion of a Hall to a Saint thus filling a missing link in G.W.R. locomotive development.

Fun With Southern Steam - Malcolm Garner
We journey south to the former Southern Region to relive the latter years of Bullied Pacifics and B.R. Standards. A 35mm slide presentation.

10th January 2005
Irish Railways in Colour - Tom Ferris
S.V.R. volunteer and authority on Irish Railways joins us to present a show of slides from his collection, steam and diesel, in pre-preservation days.

North American Journey - Les Tindall
Prolific photographer and overseas tour guide reviews his many American travels with a coast to coast journey looking at all forms of rail transport.

Steam Locomotives in the Landscape - Ralph Ward
We welcome again one of todays foremost railway photographers with an up to date medium format slide presentation.

11th April 2005
Conserving our Railway Heritage - John Yates
English Heritage expert on industrial archaeology and canal enthusiast presents an illustrated talk about Britain's architectural railway legacy.

30th April 2005 (Saturday)
A trip based around car sharing to Scunthorpe Steelworks followed by a visit to Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum.

9th May 2005
The Changing Fortunes of Standard Gauge Steam 1962 to 2002 - John Harris
Long standing SVR volunteer goes down memory lane including some local themes.

22nd May 2005 (Sunday)
Annual Coach Trip
To the Midland Railway Centre for their Steam Gala and then on to the Rudyard Lake Railway.

11th June 2005 (Saturday)
Another car sharing trip, this time on a private hire Blackpool tram combined with Depot visit.

13th June 2005
Annual General Meeting followed by
30 Years of Carriage Restoration - Hugh McQuade
An illustrated talk on the successes, pitfalls and problems of restoring and maintaining the S.V.R. carriage fleet over 30 years.
