Wolverhampton Branch Severn Valley Railway Supporting the SVR since 1967 |
The SVR Wolverhampton Branch continues to provide tangible support to the Severn Valley Railway through its activities, the major project in recent times being the conversion of a carriage for the conveyance of disabled passengers. We recently have purchased another coach for a similar conversion. Our Branch is also actively involved in the marketing of the railway at shows and exhibitions. During Member's Day 2004 at Kidderminster Town the Branch handed over the custodianship of Hinton Manor to the SVR Rolling Stock Trust.
As part of the Branch's continued support for Hinton Manor, we have arranged for the production of a Limited Edition model.
To commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Branch we have a specially commissioned OO gauge wagon.
The branch holds public meetings at the Old Wulfrunians Club, 253A Castlecroft Road, Castlecroft, Wolverhampton, WV3 8NA. Although the actual meetings start at 7.30pm the room is available for use from 7pm. Free car parking is available and the venue is licensed. Here is a map of the location of our venue. Allcomers welcome, SVR membership not essential. Admission is by purchase of a raffle ticket, costing £2-00, to be drawn during the meeting.
Our meetings are open to all, please come and join us on the second Monday of each month from September to June. Subjects covered include local transport history (including buses and canals) as well as railway subjects from Britain and abroad.
